Das Frederik-Hendrik-Museum befindet sich im Dorf Vieux Grand Port an der Südostküste der Insel und führt Sie durch 400 Jahre französische und niederländische Kolonialgeschichte.
Es ist in einem französischen Gebäude aus dem 18. Jahrhundert untergebracht und beherbergt die Ruinen des Fort Frederik Hendrik, das 1698 von den Holländern erbaut wurde.
Das französische Gebäude hat seine eigene historische Bedeutung und verfügt über eine Lodge, ein Gefängnis, eine Bäckerei, eine Schmiedewerkstatt und eine Kirche auf dem nahe gelegenen Gelände. Im Museum finden Sie historische Artefakte und interessante Objekte aus archäologischen Ausgrabungen, die in der Umgebung stattgefunden haben.
