Cascade Léon (also known as Exil Waterfall) is one of our favourite waterfalls in Mauritius. It is located in the south of the island in Rivière des Anguilles, close to Souillac. It’s accessible by following a path through a lush, tropical forest. As you reach the base of the waterfall, you’ll have to step over a few rocks but the view of the 20-foot cascade plunging into the pool below makes it absolutely worth it.
The waterfall is an excellent picnic spot, so remember to pack some lunch and lots of water. We also recommend bringing your swimwear, as you can jump in the pool and swim behind the waterfall to access a hidden cave. It’s an exhilarating experience that’s a must on your Mauritius bucket list.
