Did you know Mauritius has the largest seashell collection in Africa? You’ll find this treasure trove at the World of Seashells Museum in Bel Ombre. The collection has 8000 specimens from 1500 species across the planet. It’s the life’s work of a passionate Mauritian conchophile who inherited it from his parents.
Explore the oceans like never before with this visually arresting exhibit. There are seashells of every hue, size and texture imaginable here. You can learn about their uses throughout history both by humans and the creatures that once inhabited them. Little explorers can design their own shells at the mini children’s laboratory, too.
